Konop Crew Continues as Integral Part of NDA Life

One of the most rewarding things in Notre Dame is our lunch service, offered by Konop and some friendly faces you may recognize. Tracy Troge heads the Konop team providing breakfast and lunches for the students here at NDA.

In the spirit of broken records, COVID-19 has drastically changed everything in the manner of safety. If you have not already noticed, the salad bar and many self- selected foods are unavailable to students.

“Numerous things have changed since the beginning of Covid and we continue to change as new information becomes available. We hope to bring a lot of things back next year, but it’s too early to tell,” Troge said.

She and her team see so many student and staff faces every single day. Currently four workers are in the kitchens of Notre Dame, and they have formed a close relationship with each other while working here.

“We feel appreciated by the faculty, staff and students. Getting to know everyone in the school is a joy. Even though my co-workers and I do not socialize a lot outside of work, we do enjoy working together,” Troge said.

The spicy chicken sandwiches, Snapple and all the other things we enjoy in Konop do not seem to be going away any time soon. With the challenges of distance and restrictions, preparing food has become a lot more time consuming. For the most part, things in the kitchen are running smoothly. The one thing that Troge does not miss at all is “filling the soda machine and salad bar with ice.”

The manager says thank you for the continued kindness and support that she and her co-workers receive everyday from the community of Notre Dame.
