On Saturday, October 8, 2022, Miss Molly Quakkelaar became Mrs. Schroeder when she tied the knot with husband Andy Shroeder.

The pair met in college, as both of their roommates were dating each other.

“We crossed paths every once in a while, but we were just friends,” shared Mrs. Schroeder.

After college, Schroeder moved out to Appleton. She reconnected with Andy through a volleyball league.

The science teacher explained that the two didn’t date in Appleton as she would be moving back to Milwaukee and knew starting something long distance would be hard.

“But, I moved to Milwaukee, and I couldn’t get him out of my mind,” Schroeder said. “I knew I would always wonder about Andy if I didn’t at least try to start a relationship.”

The duo decided to go on their first date at the Kohler-Andrae State Park, and it ended up being both of their last first dates.

Because the two were friends for several years before dating, Schroeder shared that it didn’t take them too long to decide to get married.

The proposal took place at the top of a bluff after a long hike on a surprise trip to Connecticut that Andy had planned.

After they reached the top of the bluff, he asked a couple walking by to take their picture.

“They took our picture and then Andy looked up at them and asked that they continue to take pictures,” Schroeder said. “He took both of my hands, dropped to one knee, and asked me to marry him. I said yes with the biggest smile I have ever smiled…up until October 8.”

Schroeder shared that one of her favorite parts of the ceremony was after they said the vows and the wedding party took communion.

“Andy and I served our parents and wedding party and then we sat down and just watched as all of our family and friends took communion together,” she said. “Also, just before dinner, we looked out at everyone who was gathered there for us and we just felt so blessed! I also loved all the speeches and our first dance!”

The couple have moved in together, which Schroeder shared she is loving.

“It’s like a slumbie with your best bud every day,” she said. “We also just got an accepted offer on a house, which will be our first home, and it’s very special we are doing that together.”
