Winter Dance on Horizon, Saturday, February 15

This year’s annual semi-formal Winter Dance is around the corner as the Student Government makes preparations.

It is now known as the Winter Dance, previously Sweethearts.

We don’t want anyone to feel like they have to be part of a couple to come,” said Frau Laaaksonen, executive adviser of Student Government.

“The big concert style lighting and rigging that we get in is very costly, so most of the ticket proceeds go to that and chaperone costs,” she said. “If there is any remaining it is used for the various events we sponsor, including Fall Fest and Spring Week.”

Tickets will be sold February 11-13 in the commons during lunch. NDA students may pay at the door.

Guests from other schools are welcome. Guest passes must have been submitted by the 6th of February.

Student Government organizes and runs all of the NDA dances.

“We have committees that focus on the specific dance, and the Student Government executive board focuses on the big ideas and feedback on the dance,” said Max Timmer, student body president.

Traditionally, girls have asked the boys for this dance, but it is “not expected at all.”

“Guys can ask someone or just go with some friends and have a fun time. The main goal is to just have fun, regardless if you have a date right now,” said Timmer. “ I have in the past gone with just friends and I’ve had such a fun time. Having a date is not needed at all!”

The dance will begin at 8 p.m. this Saturday, February 15, in the NDA commons.
