NDA teacher Bryan Konshak has been hosting the Pancake Run Walk fundraiser since 2017. This year the fundraiser raised money for the NDA Closet.
There was no goal in mind of how much money he wanted to raise. “I just want to make a contribution in a way that is fun,” said Konshak.
He continued, “We will be able to give over $2200 this year, which is the biggest donation so far that we have been able to do.”
This year, Konshak had about 80 people pre-register for the event. On the day of the fundraiser, about 40-50 people showed up.
“I know sports and other family events do prevent people from showing up, but from those who were there, the feedback was positive,” he explained.
At the Pancake Run Walk, people took part in a little bit of walking or running around the NDA track before getting to enjoy their choice of plain or chocolate chip pancakes.
“The idea for the fundraiser started with talks with Mr. McGowan about the need for a flat track race for those who are competitive runners. We tossed ideas about what it would be and how we would be different from others. We knew food was a must, so we chose pancakes,” said Konshak. “We went with pancakes because they are easy to make and almost everyone enjoys them.”
Aside from the cold, gloomy weather, Konshak is thankful for the turnout, and the money they were able to raise.
Konshak is also open to any help If anyone would like to join the planning team for the event.
