Notre Dame Academy’s Future Triton Band program was implemented this year, and so far has been extremely successful.

The program, spearheaded by senior Madeline Tricarico, involves bringing middle school students at the GRACE schools to play alongside NDA high schoolers.

“We already had around 20 middle school students play with us at a football game, and we had terrific feedback based on their experience,” Tricarico shared.

The Future Band program also involves having NDA band students take trips to middle schools to play with their bands and give talks on what it’s like to play for the Triton band.

“I am passionate about this program because music is a unifying force that brings people together,” said Tricarico. “Band has helped me meet so many amazing friends and been a constant source of joy throughout my high school years.”

Tricarico says she drew inspiration for this program from the ones implemented by NDA’s sports teams, and she thought the band could benefit from one as well.

“We are focused on building relationships with the middle schoolers and motivating them to continue playing in band,” she shared.

Middle schoolers played with the NDA band on the Friday, September 23, football game against Preble and will continue to join in for future football and basketball games.

“Our first middle school visit is rapidly approaching, and I cannot wait to begin speaking to these students about why they should play in NDA’s band,” Tricario said.
