Number Nine in the class of 2020 is Courtney Romes.

Romes plans to major in either biomedical engineering or pre-physical therapy at  Michigan Technological University.

She said, “During my time at NDA, I have been drawn out of my shell more than I thought possible.”

Romes has been involved in soccer, golf, cross country, ASTRA and German Club during her time in high school.

“When I leave NDA, I’ll probably miss my teachers and classmates more than anything, or maybe the intense discussions and Uno games in Campus Ministry.”

Romes attended Saint John the Baptist and found inspiration from many of the teachers there.

“I found my dedication and love of learning during middle school,” she said. “My teachers there inspired me to work hard and ask questions.”

One regret she has is not taking her second credit of gym class sooner in high school.

“I had to drop out of Advanced Spanish to take Lifetime Fitness in my last semester of high school,” she explained.

A little known fact about Romes is that she took eight years of piano lessons and does not remember anything.

“In ten years, I hope to be working in some field of medicine and making a difference in people’s lives,” she said.
