Science Teacher Kim Simon to Wed in August

Wedding bells will be heard through the halls of the Academy as our very own Ms. Kim Simon prepares to be married in the middle of August.

“It’s gonna be big, larger than I originally planned,” Simon said. “We have a lot of family.”

“I’m doing all the decorations and everything myself.”

Simon is taking a hands-on approach to the event “so that’s what I get to do all summer, make centerpieces and bouquets.”

The young science teacher met her fiance, Will Flinchum from Ashwaubenon, at a Halloween party through a mutual friend and was, of course, thrilled when he later proposed to her.

“We purchased a piece of land together that we wanted to build a house on, and the day we closed the deal he took me up to the land and proposed,” she said.

The ceremony will take place in Green Bay on August 12, but the honeymoon will be postponed until spring break. “We want to go somewhere warm with beaches!”

Simon attended Luxemburg-Casco High School and then UW-Steven’s Point where she majored in Broadfield Natural Sciences. Before being employed at Notre Dame Academy she worked at Neenah and White Lake high schools.

“The students here differentiate NDA from other places I’ve worked. They just have a much greater respect for education,” Simon said. “You can really tell they want to be here.”
