Mrs. Deb Corriveau has returned to NDA as a sub for Dr. Chris Johnson’s ICP and Chemistry classes as he has been out the past couple of months.

“It wasn’t difficult to come back to NDA. I still had my parking pass, and I loved seeing everyone again,” she said.

She started the Monday after Thanksgiving while Mr. Johnson was having some health issues.

On Monday, he returned to teach his afternoon ICP classes.

“It wasn’t hard to teach Chemistry again but I needed to decipher what the students already knew–especially those students whom I did not teach last year in ICP,” said Corriveau.

She was able to do a few labs that she “very much enjoyed. I hope the students did too!”

While she didn’t need to discuss with Mr. Johnson his lesson plans, she was in direct communication with Principal Andrea, who herself was seen back in the classroom.

“The students asked to start at the beginning of a chapter, and we went from there,” she said.

She added that Mr. Johnson hopes to be back full-time for the final semester after the break.

Corriveau has been enjoying her retirement and is taking retirement courses at UWGB.

“My husband and I are taking classes in beginning Spanish and yoga,” she said.

She has also learned a lot about climate change, the natural emergency policy, the Secret Service and how to play cribbage and pickleball.

“I love to learn. I volunteer weekly at the Einstein Project and biweekly in an after-school STEM session for young women. I have learned how to use a 3D printer and a little bit about coding,” she added.

She and her husband are planning a trip/walking tour, maybe to Peru, to practice their Spanish.

“Some students may remember that last summer I kicked off my retirement with an Iceland walking tour which was fabulous. There really hasn’t been a dull moment yet,” she said.
