The National Honor Society (NHS) recently elected officers for the 2025-26 school year, and Emma Ciak, Shaun Huss, Lainey Nelson and Kate Van Pay will serve as the society’s leaders.
Elections take place every May. Only juniors are allowed to run for these officer positions. To be considered, interested candidates must examine the officer job description and fill out an application consisting of three questions. Applications are made available to all juniors on the NHS Google Classroom page.
After reviewing all candidates’ applications, the juniors vote on a Google form, and the top four votes are selected to serve as officers.
National Honor Society is built on four pillars: scholarship, leadership, service and character. All members of the NHS are expected to follow these values. Officers are expected to set an example for others in the NDA community.
“The officers, and all NHS members, for that matter, are expected to uphold these values and be role models in our school community,” said Doctora Mulroney, NHS adviser.
NHS members volunteer as tutors, offering academic support to their fellow students.
These newly elected officers will take on several responsibilities in the upcoming year. These include planning the annual NHS mass, leading the induction ceremony, helping with attendance at meetings, and supporting Doctora Mulroney with tasks as needed.
