NDA will welcome back alumni on Friday and Saturday, September 26-27, for the annual Alumni Tailgate and the Triton Academic & Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
The induction ceremony will take place Saturday at St. Norbert College’s Michels Commons Ballroom, but the tailgate will precede Friday’s night game versus Menasha.
”The purpose of the tailgate is to provide an opportunity for alumni to come together and catch up,” said Alumni Coordinator Eliza Campbell.
Inductees will be recognized during halftime of the game.
Saturday’s Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony gives the community a chance to celebrate the newest class of Hall of Fame inductees.
This year’s honorees represent achievements in three categories or divisions: academics, athletics, and legendary.
In the Academic Division, Albert Treml from Central Catholic’s Class of 1955 will be recognized for his accomplishments in the arts. Joining him are Suasan Nelson for her work in education, David Lasee from NDA’s class of 1955 for public service and Thomas Stanton from Abbot Pennings’ class of 1979, also honored for public service.
The Athletic Division features a strong lineup of Tritons. The inductees are Allie LeClaire Alexander (2014), Ben Bobinski (2013), Ricky Hearden (2009), Eric Mahlik (1996), and Allison Woodward McGuire (2011). Chris Badciong, an Abbot Pennings graduate from the Class of 1984, will also be joining this year’s athletic honorees.
The Legends Division will honor individuals and teams who left a lasting impact on their schools. Dick Hietpas and Roy Smits, Central Catholic Class of 1955, will be recognized along with the 1979 Premontre High School football team, the 1987 Abbot Pennings soccer team, and the 1991 Notre Dame Academy boys cross country team.
Inductees are chosen through a nomination process reviewed annually by a selection committee.
“Planning begins as early as February, though the bulk of the work happens over the summer,” Campbell explained.
Alumni are invited primarily through email, while inductees receive a personal phone call about their honor.
The weekend events aim to bring together generations of alumni while celebrating the accomplishments and traditions that continue to shape the NDA community.
