Rising juniors and seniors are encouraged to become T-3 leaders and help future high schoolers or transfers adjust to school life at NDA.
Admissions Director Cassidy Hempel is now accepting applications from current sophomores and juniors in order to get started on the plans for next year.
Students received an email for a Google Form application. If students wish to go on with the process of joining, they will then be interviewed by Hempel.
“T-3 leaders gain hands-on experience developing skills that extend far beyond high school,” said Hempel. “Through leading activities, supporting new students, and working closely with peers and faculty, students strengthen their communication skills by learning how to listen, encourage and speak confidently with others.”
Expectations are to have 50 T-3 leaders every year. The new leaders will be announced sometime in mid-February.
Last year, Hempel introduced “student directors,” who helped with planning the activities, posting on social media and leading activities during the event.
The student directors last year were Shaun Huss, Emma Ciak, Cecilia Ortega, Evie Tadych, Isabelle Fergus, Jaedyn Mueller and Rachel Johanski.
This year, the program will include 8th Grade Graduation Party, Summer T-3 Events and New Student Orientation. There will also be three summer events, one in each month, that are planned by the program leaders.
The activities will include schedule walkthroughs, locker practice, athletics presentation, a T-3 Q and A panel and lots of ice breakers to get to know new people in the incoming class.
Each event is made to help students feel more welcomed and supported by fellow Tritons at the beginning of their NDA journey.
“This mentorship program started to help students transition successfully into high school by providing guidance, connection and support from older peers. The program creates a welcoming environment where new students feel supported academically, socially and emotionally from day one,” Hempel said.
