While the dates for summer athletic camps vary, one week in June Notre Dame Academy is hosting Summer Enrichment Camps for students entering fifth to eighth grade.
“We offer both Enrichment and Athletic Camps. Enrichment options include Craft/DIY Camp, Band Camp, Curtains Up! Drama Camp, and Musical Theatre Camp. Many sports also offer summer athletic camps,” said Ms. Cassidy Hempel, enrollment coordinator..
Details, such as dates and instructors, are listed under the Admissions tab on the NDA website.
Camps are organized by the Athletic and Admissions Departments. The leaders or instructors of the camps are NDA and GRACE teachers, staff members and coaches. Athletic camps will include student athletes helping out as well.
The non-athletic camps are taking place June 22-25. The camp registration is open and available on the NDA website for parents to sign up their kids.
The cost for each camp ranges from $60-$70 while athletic camp prices range from $45-$90.
“Summer camps give middle school students the opportunity to experience NDA’s values, meet current students, and become more familiar with the school. This exposure can help them envision themselves as part of the NDA community,” explained Hempel.
“Summer camps provide students with an opportunity to explore NDA’s programs, spend time in the building, and experience what it is like to be part of the NDA community.”
NDA’s students are involved in these camps through T3 and athletics. T3 is a program where current high schoolers help incoming high schoolers feel welcomed.
The T3 leaders will help the enrichment camps by assisting during lunch and anything else needed. Student athletes will help in their sport, and theater and art students will help with those camps.
“Craft/DIY Camp explores different art forms, Drama Camp focuses on performance skills and athletic camps emphasize sport-specific skill development,” said Hempel.
Participating in athletic enrichment camps is a great way to meet coaches early on as well as students already in high school, said the coordinator.
As one junior said, “If you’re considering going to NDA, these camps are definitely for you.”
