The NDA Lifeguards continue to make a meaningful impact through its annual diaper drive, supporting families in need.
This year, the diaper drive collected a total of 6,913 diapers, falling short of the 12,000 diaper goal but still demonstrating strong participation across the school.
Since its start in 2023, the drive has grown into a key annual event with past totals reaching as high as 11,324 diapers in 2025.
Despite this year’s total number being lower than last year’s, organizers emphasized that the impact remains significant for the families served.
The initiative began in the spring of 2023 after Kathy Cain approached the club about supporting the A&A Alexandria Pregnancy Center.
The timing aligned with the important Catholic feast days, including the solemnity of St. Joseph and the Annunciation, reinforcing the club’s connection between faith and service.
Senior Monika Stoik highlighted the importance of the drive.
“Counting diapers has been rewarding, to see NDA’s commitment to helping new mothers. Our impact on the pregnancy center has been well appreciated,” she said.
Her reflection highlights the broader purpose of the project.
The drive is not about meeting numbers but about helping new mothers support their babies.
This year’s top performing class was Mrs. Crystal Dory’s which contributed 1,269 diapers.
While the original incentive was a pancake breakfast made by Vice Principal Mr. Masarik and Fr. Jordan, the 12,000 diaper goal was not met schoolwide for the class to receive the reward.
Instead, organizers confirmed that a smaller prize will still be awarded in recognition to the class’s efforts.
All donations will go directly to the A&A Alexandria Pregnancy Center, where they will support mothers and families.
Although the drive did not reach its target, the continued commitment from students reflects the Lifeguards lasting impact.
“I am glad to know our efforts are making a difference in the lives of others,” said Stoik.
