You’ve most likely heard about Teacher Appreciation Week in the last few days and quickly forgot about it, but it’s important to remember why we have it and why it’s important.
Teacher Appreciation Week is more than a celebration for teachers, it’s recognition of the people who shape our future up until we’re adults. Teachers come to school each day with patience, creativity and the commitment to help students grow academically and also as individuals.
Teachers don’t just teach, they guide you, motivate you, and give you someone to look up to.
In classrooms everywhere, teachers go out of their way to help their students, working long hours inside and outside of the school day, figuring out how to use their limited resources, and trying to meet expectations that are always changing.
Even with these challenges, they continue helping their students succeed. From teaching you how to be kind and respectful, to guiding you through choosing your future, their work is difficult but helpful and meaningful.
Teacher Appreciation Week gives us all an opportunity to show our support, but our appreciation should go beyond one week a year.
So I just wanted to make sure to say thank you to all the teachers out there. Your strength, tenacity, and sacrifices don’t go undetected. You inspire, lead and help build a better future.
