NDA girls basketball team has recently won two overtime games to clinch their ticket to the Resch Center today, March 11, at 3:15. They will be representing both NDA and Green Bay at state.

The team recently beat Pulaski and Beaver Dam in overtime to make it to state. Both games were nail biters, and everyone in attendance was at the edge of their seats. In addition, they recently won the 2015-16 FRCC conference championship and currently have a record of 24-2.

The team is led by Head Coach Sara Rhode, assistant coach Erin Templin, and assistant coach Brian Tristani. Also, the girls have great leadership not just on the court but off the court as well. The team captains include seniors Olivia Campbell and Kristen Burkel and junior Katelyn Morgan.

The girls are ready to go and excited as ever. With the excitement, comes many nerves. Many of the players are nervous going into the game due to the size of the crowd that will be in attendance. It will be new for some of the girls on the team so they will have to adjust to all the people cheering and the volume at the Resch Center. However, Olivia Campbell, will be making her third appearance at the state tournament this year, so she should be able to provide her team with some words of advice.

Sophomore Lizzie Opichka said, “It means the world to me that we have made it to state. I know I can speak for my teammates by saying that as well. We have worked so hard to get to where we are, and it is a dream come true.”

“I am looking forward to the atmosphere at the Resch Center,” said sophomore Ashley Laskowski, “and obviously to play a good team.”

Sophomore Kaycee Gierczak said, “I’m looking forward to seeing all the fans that will come out and support us. We worked so hard for this. It honestly is all unbelievable.”
