On April 18, the Lady Tritons soccer team had their first conference game versus the Southwest Trojans. The team, now ranked number 2 in Division 2, defeated the Trojans 7-0.

The goals came from seniors Hannah Lech and Anna Tristani and juniors, Grace Shaw, Trudy Quidzinski, Madison Polack and Ashlyn Fitzgerald and sophomore Jenna Cuene, marking the team’s first conference victory.

Something was quite special about the Tritons vs. Trojans game. The girls participated in the 5th Annual Birthday Cake Challenge.

The Notre Dame Lady Tritons soccer team challenged the Green Bay Southwest Lady Trojan soccer team to collect birthday packs for St. Pat’s Pantry.

St. Pat’s Pantry provides food to needy residents on the west side of Green Bay. Many of these families are unable to afford purchasing a simple birthday cake for their children. These items are also difficult for the pantry to provide on its limited budget.

The director, all of the volunteer workers, as well as the families served, greatly appreciate these luxury items. The cooperative effort of the teams provided just over 150 birthday packs last year. The girls were hoping to surpass that number this year.

The birthday packs consist of a box of cake mix, a can of frosting, a pack of candles and a small gift placed in a gift bag. The small gift includes items like sidewalk chalk, play-doh, match box cars, coloring books and crayons, books, etc.

With the combined effort from the Lady Tritons and Southwest Lady Trojans, the teams are proud to announce that 177 bags were collected and delivered to St. Patrick’s Pantry at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

Junior Grace Shaw said, “The birthday bags are a really awesome tradition that was started by the Fife girls, and I’m happy that I have the chance to keep it going. It’s a great cause and a fun way to bring everyone together. I’m very happy with the efforts from the Southwest girls soccer team and our girls soccer team here at NDA.”
