On Friday night, boys’ basketball got a win over FRCC rival Green Bay Southwest, 85-55. They were led by junior Chris Mitchell and senior Garrett Grzesk, who both had 16 points.

The Triton offense, which ranks number one in the FRCC, continued their great success from three-point range, scoring a total of sixteen three-point field goals in the win.

“Time and time again we show we can get a lot of shots inside, but teams don’t fully respect how well we can shoot, and I think we showed that tonight,” Coach AJ Alexander said.

The game started out as a back and forth as the Trojans found success behind their main scorer, senior Owen Stieber, who finished with 18 points.

Quickly, the Tritons were able to pull away to end the half, finishing the final 2:47 of the first frame on a 7-0 run to go into the break up 40-29.

The Trojans started to make it interesting after a Javonnee Szymanski dunk ignited a fire in their play, bringing it to 48-41 with 15:00 remaining in regulation. However, the Tritons were able to pull away again, finishing the game on a 37-14 run, coming out with a 85-55 victory and their fourth straight.

“I think we started out a little slow, didn’t quite show the standard we hold ourselves to right away, but we fixed that,” Alexander said. “Overall, I think it was a great team win and hopefully it carries into a full 36 minutes of basketball tomorrow.

Riding an 8-2 record in their last 10 games, the #6 Tritons will head down to Pewaukee on Saturday night to take on the #2 Pewaukee Pirates.

“This is a game we’ve all looked forward to for a big chunk of the year,” Mitchell said. “We just want to go out and prove that we’re one of the top teams in the state.”
