Girls Soccer Defeats Plymouth, Headed to State

In a tension-filled defensive struggle, the girls soccer team scored in overtime to earn their ticket to the state tournament in Milwaukee next week.  The 1-0 sectional win means Coach Nick Browne’s team is one of the four finalists in Division 3 of the WIAA state tournament.

It also means the last game on NDA turf for the pictured seniors who took the traditional “last walk” following the win.

Senior Stella Cuene scored in the first 10-minute overtime on a pass from junior Mia Lemkuil.

On Friday, June 17, the Tritons play McFarland at 7 p.m.  The winner of that game plays for gold on Saturday at 7 p.m.  Both games will be at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee.

The team learned about conference honors last week.

Making first team all-conference were seniors Carlene Goral, Sarah Hardwick and Maggie Thillman, who was also named Player-of-the-Year.  Joining them as first team all-conference was junior Mia Lemkuil.

Second team all-conference honors went to senior Annabelle Nugent and sophomores Audrey Burnell and Sam Hendry.

Jillian Poshak, a sophomore, was Honorable Mention.
