Senior Adah Danen recently shattered the school’s high jump record by clearing an impressive 5 feet 6 inches. The previous record was 5 feet 4 inches.
Danen, who began competing in track during her sophomore year, found inspiration in the sport’s encouraging environment.
“I think the coaches and athletes in track do an amazing job at creating a very fun and welcoming environment,” she said.
Breaking the high jump record was a proud moment for Danen.
“It’s something I’ve been working towards for the past three years,” she said.
While the school record was not initially on her radar, it became a goal of Danen’s as she continued to improve.
“When I first started track, I didn’t even know what the school record was, but as I started doing better in the meets and improving, I realized how achievable it was,” she said.
Danen credits her coaches and supporters who made her achievement possible.
“Without them, I would have never been able to do it,” she said.
Although she will not be continuing track in college, Danen will be attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison this fall, where she plans to major in business.
