Leo Weber doesn’t play flashy; he plays sharp.
“I value toughness,” said Weber.
Over the past few weeks, the senior guard has become one of the most consistent scoring threats for Notre Dame Academy’s varsity basketball team, quietly stacking up consistent 15-20 point performances game after game.
He dropped 21 in a recent win, and his confidence seems to be rising through every possession.
“I’m getting the opportunities from my teammates,” Weber said. “The team is pretty connected. Our boys have really shown up, especially seniors Jack Warden and Alex Ciak.”
Now in his third year on varsity, Weber has continued to mature into one of the most complete players on the team, a smooth shooter who is never afraid to attack off the dribble, push the pace or even make a smart pass.
“He’s a team guy,” said Warden. “Definitely gets everyone involved in the offense.”
That ability to balance scoring and facilitation makes Weber a rare two-way threat and a steady presence when games get tense.
“He really inspires the young kids to be great on and off the court,” Ciak added.
Weber’s leadership didn’t just appear this season; in the fall, he helped out NDA soccer all the way to the Division 3 state championship game, playing a key role as a defender on one of the state’s toughest back lines.
“I mean, compared to soccer, the season is still highly competitive,” Weber said. “They’re both fun sports.”
Now, with his attention turned fully to basketball, Weber’s focus is simple: stay consistent and help the team perform in conference play.
“Doing our best in conference is the main focus right now,” Weber said.
He admits the team still battles sometimes with focus and consistency, saying, “Identifying the problem is the first step of the solution.”
With his leadership and toughness, Leo Weber is showing why he is one of the most reliable athletes on the floor at NDA, and why this season might just be his breakout.
