Freshman Rings Bell, Surprised by Generosity to Salvation Army

Breanna Schwarten, a freshman at Notre Dame Academy,  recently rang the bell for the Salvation Army, raising money for charity

She stood outside stores ringing a bell with a donation bucket trying to encourage customers to donate. By being social and friendly Schwarten was able to rack up donations towards a greater cause.

Schwarten’s experience allowed her to socialize with others and appreciate the number of kind people who were willing to donate.

“I felt like there was not going to be that many people donating, but I was surprised to see how many people did,“ said the freshman.

She said she rang the bell to do her part in aiding the less fortunate, as well as getting service hours.

I rang the bells because I wanted the chance to help people and families in need and also so that they got the help they needed.”
