“In 5-10 years from now I see myself having finished the Master’s in Catholic Education and still teaching,” said Tomerot Lambert, NDA’s newest theology teacher.
Lambert was born in Ethiopia but raised in Manitowoc and went to Roncalli High School in Manitowoc.
He graduated from Roncalli in 2016 and went to Divine Word College in Epworth, Iowa, for his undergrad, graduating in 2020 with a major in philosophy. He is currently in the process of getting a master’s in Catholic Education.
“I had Mr.Lambert as a teacher when it was his first year teaching, and I would say he’s a really good teacher,” said Junior Gabriella Gilson.
Lambert taught at St. Bernard Catholic School in Green Bay for four years.
He found out about the teaching position at Notre Dame Academy from families of former students who mentioned to him that there was a position opening up at Notre Dame Academy.
Lambert said, “I was hesitant but the families and friends kept nudging me to apply, and I spent some time in prayer and after praying and discerning if this is what God wanted me to do, I then took the courage to apply for the position.”
He describes himself as a student-centered teacher that tries to make the classroom as inclusive as possible.
“I look forward to bringing more faith into the life and mission of Notre Dame Academy,” said Lambert.
Lambert likes to read during his free time as well as play basketball and be physically active.
Evidently the new religion teacher is also a creative writer. Lambert has had a poem published in an anthology called Faith Across Traditions: Essays from Ten Years of Dialogue at Conciliar Post.
He is also married and has one child named Malachi Kolbe.
A fun fact about Lambert is his real name in Ethiopia is Tamirat which means “miracle of God,” but when his parents adopted him, they changed the spelling to Tomerot so people would pronounce his name correctly.
