At Notre Dame Academy, two faces represent our school pride, Fanman and Mermaid.
This year, seniors Tommy Chosa and Teya Bordini bring the energy, creativity and leadership that make the roles so much more than costumes.
For Chosa, Fanman means being a cheerleader for everyone. “For me, being Fanman means that I get to be a fan for all NDA students, not just athletes,” he said.
Bordini agreed, calling her role, “one of my biggest commitments at the moment, and I couldn’t be happier.”
Her goal is simple but determined, “I wanted to make it one of the best years here at NDA and that will be my goal for the whole year.”
The two are always working together to plan events and arrange activities.
“Basically when we have ideas we just text about them, then the following days we film our videos, I edit them, and then post them!” Bordini explained.
Chosa added that student government meets weekly to plan events, with advisers like Frau, Mrs. Hinch, Mr. Koenig and so many more.
There are plenty of highlights. Chosa’s favorite part of Friday was “beating De Pere and seeing all the school spirit at the game.”
For Bordini, the entire Friday night was a highlight. “Starting off the whole night with the pep rally was insane. I have never heard our school be that loud before,” she said.
Both of them had dreamed of their roles for a long time. Bordini admitted she’s been asking Chosa to run with her since middle school.
Chosa explains that alumni Nick Greuson inspired his energy, while Bordini was inspired by her mom and her older brother’s experience at NDA.
They both have a message for NDA.
Chosa said, “You’re all beautiful and I love you.”
Bordini added a sincere thanks and shared her hopes for the rest of the games.
“I really really hope that everyone keeps showing up and showing out because these nights start with the students here at NDA.”
