“I would say that it is a challenge, but it’s so rewarding,” said junior Anna Miller, who is committed to two fall sports while taking NDA’s most challenging curriculum as an IB diploma candidate.
Miller is a varsity runner for the girls cross country team and and a varsity player on the girls tennis team.
When asked if she had a favorite, she said, “I do not have a favorite! They are both so different. I would probably say that I like competing in tennis more–it is much less painful–but I like the overall sport of running more, and I can see myself running for a while after high school.”
Miller said she decided to take on the full IB course because her older sister Mia took it when she was in school and thought it was very beneficial.
“I was looking for a different style of learning and wanted to challenge myself,” said the junior.
Another fun fact about Miller is that her parents coach the girls tennis team. Most people probably would not want their mom and dad as a coach, but the two-sport athlete says she loves it.
“Most people I know who have their parents as coaches hate it, but I absolutely love it. My dad understands me well and knows how to motivate me. We have always gotten along really well, so I think his coaching has made our relationship even stronger,” she said.
Miller said if she had to give advice to other people looking to accept this challenge she would tell them that they should totally do it because it’s “so rewarding and you will get a lot out of it and learn life lessons and make so many amazing memories.”
