“I was inspired to do my Personal and Professional Skills service project this way because they needed a lot of help, and I wanted to help the catechists with the kids,” said junior Jesus Saucedo Cisneros.
Professional Personal Skills is a class on self-improvement which helps students learn to communicate and have a better mindset.
Cisneros’ service project is to help his parish with projects, a decision he chose because his parish needed a lot of people to help with projects and activities.
He helps the catechists during teaching sessions, such as guiding the children with their homework, moving chairs, making more copies for homework, and other incidentals.
“What I do helps the community by helping other people to join my parish community and makes my parish a better place for all kinds of people,” said Cisneros.
His favorite part is that he gets to learn new stuff as well as explore what his own purposes and goals are.
“Something challenging about this role is how a lot of communication is involved, and I’m not generally very good at it,” said Cisneros
Although he really does not like to share or speak in front of people, he admits it is a good way to gain more experience in his communication skills.
