“I am looking forward to everything coming together,” said Reagan DeGroot.
DeGroot is Notre Dame Academy’s senior dance choreographer and organizer for this year’s Academy Awards show senior dance.
She got into dancing when her mom signed her up for dance when she was 18 months old and has stuck with it ever since.
“Everyone involved in the dance will take some part in the organization because when you are creating a dance, the choreography is nothing without the dancers, so everyone needs to be committed and ready to dance,” said DeGroot.
Her experience as a contestant in the show was so fun last year that even though it took a long time to prepare everything, it was so satisfying to see it all come together in the end.
DeGroot agreed to organize the senior dance because she thinks it is a great way to give back to the school and showcase her talents at the same time.
At least 20 people signed up for the dance and Degroot is teaching them the dance through sending videos of choreography as well as meeting with the group to create formations and visuals.
The theme is centered around Christmas with a Christmas pop song and Christmas-themed outfits, but she has not yet picked out a song for the dance.
“It will be a fun, energetic, and Christmas-themed dance that will give the seniors involved lots of memories,” said the senior.
Through DeGroot’s time at NDA her favorite senior dance she has seen was from her freshman year because some of her teammates choreographed it, and now she feels she is following in their footsteps.
However, DeGroot herself will not be here for the actual show because she will be on a vacation in New York for her 18th birthday.
