“Notre Dame has really shaped me into being a better person,” said Libby Rickards, 2021 NDA Alum.
Rickards is now earning her Masters’ degree in Renaissance and Early Modern Studies in York, England.
For undergrad, she went to St. Norbert College majoring in English and History.
“I have had an amazing experience (studying abroad),” Rickards said.
Rickards explains how the food, grading, healthcare, culture and public transportation is very different in England than the U.S.
While studying abroad for undergrad for one semester in London, Rickards visited Italy, Ireland, Spain, Scotland and Wales and is hoping to make plans to travel even more eventually.
She has been studying to get her Masters in York since August.
While at NDA, she was involved in soccer, journalism, Writers Union and the musical.
Rickards lives in an apartment with five other people, some from the UK and some from America.
She particularly wanted to study in York because of the Renaissance and Early Modern Studies program that was offShe is still pondering what she will do with her degree, possibly become some sort of professor.
She explained that the food in England is bland, and it can be hard to find American food, which is one of the things she misses most about home.
The daughter of Mrs. Joey Rickards, administrative assistant to the president, Libby is home for the first time since studying at York and won’t be back in Green Bay until summer 2026.
