To kick off the second semester of the 2025-2026 school year Student Government’s Academy Fans organized a pep rally on January 16 for NDA students.
The pep rally started by honoring Wisconsin’s Gatorade Player of the Year, junior Kingston Allen, the first male recipient at NDA.
“We were trying to keep some of the pep rally plans, like the presentation to Kingston, on the down low,” said Mrs. Holly Hinch, the Student Government adviser in charge of this event.
The students who helped plan the annual second semester pep rally were Thommy Chosa, Teya Bordini, Shaun Huss, Jack Aicher and Jonah Marzec.
The pep rally also included fun relay races between students from each grade level who signed up to participate before the event, and many announcements for winter sports and activities for 2nd semester, such as the musical that is coming up this week.
The pep rally ended with a Balloon Pop game and Dress like a Snowman competition between each class.
In another part of the pep rally, Mrs. Gilson, musical director of NDA’s “Wizzard of Oz,” talked about the musical with a sneak peak of one of the costumes and a reminder of the dates for the musical.
Opening night is on Thursday, January 22, at 7 p.m. followed by another show on Friday, January 23, at 7 p.m. On Saturday January 24 there is a 2 p.m. matinee and a 7 p.m. performance. The final show is Sunday, January 25, at 2 p.m.
“We decided to do this event now because we had great attendance during our fall sports and an amazing first pep rally. We don’t want the spirit nor the attendance to die down! We want to get a bunch of students involved and entertained throughout the winter and rest of the school year, said Bordini, NDA’s Mermaid this year.
“It gets everyone pretty pumped up about school spirit,” added Hinch.
School spirit is taken pretty seriously at NDA, so this event hopes to excite students for the fun events going on for the rest of the year.
Bordini wants to encourage fellow Tritons to join Academy Fans, so they can plan more fun events like this, or even just sign up to participate in the fun events planned to show your school spirit.
