“I look forward to sharing my passion for the French language and culture with the fabulous students here at Notre Dame Academy,” said Lorraine Poplaski, Notre Dame Academy long term French teacher sub.
Poplaski has taught at St. Thomas More for one year of French and 33 years in Green Bay Area Public Schools.
She has also taught English as a Second Language for eight years in the Green Bay District before 25 years teaching French.
She knew what she wanted to do as a career since junior high, and Poplaski really fell in love with French.
She took the “road not taken” several times after college, but she ended up going back to school to be a teacher and has never regretted it since.
“I am not nervous to sub because any school with Notre Dame de la Baie as its name is blessed, and I am happy to be here,” said Poplaski.
She has a Bachelor of Special Studies in French, Russian and Language and Literature from Cornell College in Iowa and is currently studying Norwegian.
“I worked with Madame Rentmeester in Green Bay Schools, and I am very happy to be here for her now,” said Paplaski.
Paplaski is also very fortunate to live very close to Mrs.Rentmeester’s house and they text and meet from time to time to discuss the situation and subbing.
“I was a student in Toulouse while in college and in Tours participating in a graduate program, and I travel mostly to French-speaking countries like Quebec, the Canadian Eastern provinces for the Acadian culture, and France,” said Poplaski.
A hobby she has outside of teaching is rediscovering her love for dancing. She line dances and is currently taking ballroom dance lessons.
This energetic Renaissance Woman also plays piano and enjoys yoga and Jazzercise.
