The start of this walk down Memory Lane was an email from Eliza Campbell, who teaches in the room next door to me. She’d seen SNC was reaching out to former students for blurbs about meeting/dating during college days. “What about NDA couples?” she wondered.
When President Amy Ott picked up on the idea, I contacted my first thought–Brian and Martha Blaney who now live next door to me. Their story and pics were so much fun to see that I did the Facebook post. What fun to see Tritons respond and “nominate” couples from the past. All I can say is “Thanks” to these who sent a blurb and picture and “Enjoy this walk down Memory/Lovers Lane.”
P.S. Pictures are coming. Our editor-in-chief will add them.

“Technically we didn’t meet at NDA. We DID meet at the wedding of two other high school sweethearts–Amy Koop and Andy Servi. I was Kevin’s (Brian’s brother from my class) plus one–just as friends, and Brian went to the reception because Colin Popkey was working the bar. (Our history has some deep NDA roots!) I said, “You’re cute. Let’s date.” –from Martha (Kinate) for Martha & Brian Blaney
“Nicholas and I were both in the same class at NDA (class of 2016). We had a few classes together at the time but didn’t date in high school. One summer I came home for a few weeks during medical school, and on the first day of being back in town Nic reached out on a dating app. The rest of that summer we basically spent almost every day together and as of September 2025 we tied the knot!” –from Ingrid (Hirte) for Ingrid & Nic Wagner
“We met prior to freshman year at NDA but really got to know each other when we sat next to each other in Mrs. Brown’s Honors Freshman English class. Looking back, life was so simple and the future was wide open back then. What started as a high school crush has grown steadily over the years, shaped by growing up, growing together, and continuing to choose each other through every season. We are blessed to be the proud parents of three young daughters and will celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary this summer. Thank you, NDA, for giving us the best gift of all…each oth – from Kate (Jadin) for Kate & O’Reilly Gilliam – Class of 2011
“Lauren Byrne and Bryan Sullivan, Class of 2010, first crossed paths freshman year at NDA, sharing a few classes and, as the story goes, Lauren had a crush on Bryan from the start. It wasn’t until junior year, however, that things really took off. After Bryan asked Lauren to prom (reportedly worried someone else might ask her first), their high school friendship turned into something more. Seventeen years later, the Sullivans still have NDA to thank for their love story, which now includes seven years of marriage and three beautiful children.” –from Lauren (Byrne) for Lauren & Bryan Sullivan, Class of 2010
“I met my husband in P-111 in Mrs. Brown’s English class freshman year. I was talkative and outgoing, and Ricardo’s first impression of me was that I was annoying. He was dating a fellow soccer teammate at the time, and my first impression of him was that he was rude! We became friends throughout freshman year because we sat at the same lunch table. He asked me to be his girlfriend under the bleachers in the rain at a Friday night Triton football game, and, this year, we’ll have been together for 17 years! Mrs. Brown attended our wedding in 2017, and we’re so blessed to have her as a lifelong friend. Ricardo and I now have two beautiful boys, and life is sweet! Happy Valentine’s Day! –from Morgan for Morgan & Ricardo Medina
“We actually met in your class freshman year! (Mrs. Brown’s class) He sat right behind me and asked if I was related to Gerry McNamara, a popular Syracuse basketball player at the time. We were quick friends and locker buddies since our last names were so close. It wasn’t until the summer before senior year we made things “official.” Friendship has been the best foundation for us. After NDA, we lived and went to school in Milwaukee for many years and eventually moved home to Green Bay. We have 2 kids (Liam 9 and Nora 5), two dogs (Belle and Jovie), and we both work for Aurora. Liam is doing Future Triton basketball and Nora is excited to try out for the Future Dance Team. It’s fun to see the legacy live on! –from Meghan (McNamara) for Meghan and Myles McHugh
“Sean and I met at NDA, but we didn’t talk much. He was SO quiet. I had maybe heard him say five words in high school, so we didn’t know each other all that well. We “re-met” in college at UW-Madison and were friends for about a year before we started dating. We got married about a year ago and now have a five-month-old!–from Carli (Borseth) for Carli and Sean Green
“After burning through every excuse imaginable to avoid school dances (sports conflicts, family hunting traditions, “unforeseen circumstances”), a few guys and I decided that before graduation we should at least attempt to ask a girl to a school dance. Senior Academy Ball loomed…
Being opposed to outright rejection, we agreed to reconnaissance and groundwork on each other’s behalf via AIM-Instant Messenger. Late one night, the green light was given —hypothetically— if asked, Katie Harmeling might possibly say yes.
So, I asked… and she did. The rest is history. –from Adam Servi for Adam and Katie (Harmeling) Servi
“Olivia and I started dating my freshman and her sophomore year at NDA (2012). We connected due to my dad’s coaching my sister, Tessa, and Olivia’s sister, Emily, in grade school basketball. Attended every dance/three proms together, and she was my #1 fan at all basketball games. After NDA, we attended SNC together, and now are living out our days in Madison, married, and have a one-year-old daughter named Grace.” –from Dante Jadin for Dante and Olivia (Johnson) Jadin
“Mike and I started dating in high school. I was a cheerleader and student athletic trainer, and he played three sports. He is Class of 1992, and I am 1993.”–from Amy for Amy and Mike Rader
